Manitoba Express Entry

An Overview of Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP)

Manitoba is an open and friendly province. It has a vibrant labour market due to its agricultural output and abundant natural resources. The capital, Winnipeg, has a friendly, pluralistic community. These are a few of the many reasons people come from far and wide to settle and work in the province.

If you are a skilled worker, the easiest way to immigrate to Manitoba is through the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP). The program is sometimes casually referred to as the Winnipeg PNP given that more than half the Manitoba population lives in Winnipeg. It allows you to immigrate to the province with a permanent resident status, meaning you will only be a step away from getting Canadian citizenship.

Once you make an application, the Manitoba immigration authorities will go through it and if you qualify, it will give you an ITA (Invitation to Apply) letter encouraging you to submit a formal application through the federal Express Entry system.

The Express Entry system by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) assesses applicants’ eligibility to Canadian immigration and it checks such things as security, criminality, and health.

In summary, the role of the Manitoba immigration authorities is to determine your eligibility for the specific job you have applied for while that of the federal Express Entry system is to consider the nomination by the province as well as other criteria that show you would be beneficial not only to the Canadian economy but also to the society.
